Custom Kitchen, Designed around You

When it comes to custom kitchens, a thoughtful and professional design is just as important as the quality of the finished product. That’s why we have a team of skilled kitchen designers, following a proven design process, ready to assist you.

Transform Your Kitchen with an Expert Kitchen Designer

In the process of a kitchen renovation, a well-planned and thoughtfully designed kitchen is essential for a smooth and stress-free renovation, ensuring both functionality and a stunning final result.

Creating a custom kitchen means balancing practicality, style, and durability, while managing potential site challenges and the overall renovation budget. While interior designers and planning software can be helpful, the guidance of a dedicated kitchen designer makes a real difference from the start.

With over 80 years combined experience, our kitchen designers bring expert knowledge in interior design, product selection, custom cabinetry configuration, project planning, and renovation costings. They will guide you through layouts, finishes, and materials options, helping your kitchen project stay on budget while achieving your vision.

Design Your Dream Kitchen with Complete Kitchens

A kitchen design that ignores budget is not practical. Likewise, a quote without proper design has little meaning in a custom kitchen renovation. Thoughtful planning and accurate costing must work together.

At Complete Kitchens, we offer a specialized In-home design consultation with detailed costing service, providing a complete and transparent design experience. Our designers visit your home, measure the space, and take the time to understand your style, needs, and preferences. They work closely with you to develop a design concept that reflects your personality while aligning with your renovation budget.

You will receive a comprehensive proposal outlining detailed costings for cabinetry, benchtops, accessories, delivery, and installation, together with optional trade work estimates, so you can move forward with clarity and confidence.

FAQ

What styles of kitchens do you design?

We design custom kitchens in a wide range of styles, tailored to suit your home, lifestyle and personal taste. From modern, contemporary and minimalist kitchens to Hamptons, French Provincial, Scandi, Japandi, industrial, transitional, mid-century and Art Deco designs, every kitchen is custom designed and built to last.

We also specialize in renovating Melbourne’s older and heritage homes. Whether it’s opening up the narrow layout of a Victorian terrace in Fitzroy, Brunswick, Richmond or Albert Park, or reworking an awkward floor plan, we create kitchens that respect the home’s character while improving functionality for modern living.

How do you design a modern kitchen for an older Melbourne home?

The key is balancing modern functionality with the home’s original character.

For Victorian, Edwardian and Californian Bungalow homes, we carefully redesign enclosed layouts to create more open, connected and functional living spaces. This can include improving natural light, maximizing storage, incorporating modern appliances, and creating better connections between kitchen, living and outdoor areas.

We carefully select cabinetry styles, colours, materials and finishes ensure the new kitchen feels like it has always belonged.

With over 48 years of experience designing and renovating custom kitchens across Melbourne, we specialize in creating timeless heritage kitchen renovations that honour the past while delivering the functionality, storage and lifestyle needs of today’s modern family homes.

How long does the kitchen design process take?

Following your initial consultation, our design team generally requires 1-1.5 week to prepare and present a comprehensive proposal. This includes a 3D design concept, detailed cabinetry and benchtop costings, along with estimated trade works – subject to the complexity of your space and specific requirements.

Once you proceed to contract, the refinement and confirmation of all design details, colours, appliances selections and accessory specifications typically take a further 2-3 weeks. We then move to site check and preparation of production drawings prior to manufacturing.

What is the difference between a kitchen designer and an interior designer?

A kitchen designer specializes in creating functional kitchens with a focus on layout, workflow, storage, cabinetry, materials and construction details. They consider you lifestyle, renovation goals and budget to create a kitchen design that is not only beautiful, but also practical and achievable.

As a custom cabinet maker, our designers understand cabinetry construction, material options, availability and costs. This allows us to design kitchens that balance style, functionality and budget from the beginning, helping you make informed decisions throughout the renovation process.

Interior designers can provide great inspiration and design direction for the overall look and feel of your home. However, they may not specialize in detailed cabinetry design, manufacturing requirements or the cost considerations involved in delivering a complete kitchen renovation.

If you already have in interior design plan, it is a great starting point. Our kitchen designers can review your ideas, discuss the practical requirements, and help refine the design to ensure it works with your space and budget.

Choosing Complete Kitchens means working with a kitchen designer and cabinet maker who combines creativity, practicality and hands-on building experience – from the first concept through to manufacturing and installation.

Do you offer free kitchen design consultations?

We offer an in-home design consultation for a small, redeemable fee of $275. This includes two meetings where our designers will create, draw, and present your kitchen concept in 3D, along with a detailed costing and itemized trades proposal. The fee is fully credited towards your quotation if you proceed with us. This approach ensures our designers can dedicate proper time and careful thought to your kitchen, rather than providing a rushed or high-pressure service.
